Core funding

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) provides the core funding to support the NIEeS technical and administrative staff, and to fund training activities run by the NIEeS.
The funding of NIEeS is managed by the University of Cambridge. The University of Cambridge provides the services of the Director, along with office space in the Department of Earth Sciences.

The DTI has provided finanical support to enable the NIEeS to begin an outreach programme to UK environmental industries.

Event sponsorship

British Nuclear Fuels Ltd supported a two-day event on simulations of radiation damage to materials, a programme designed to support research into the development of new long-term radioactive waste strategies.
Laser-Scan supported a two-day event on GIS and Grid technologies. Laser-Scan is a geospatial systems provider, based in Cambridge, drawing on thirty years of experience in the delivery of operational solutions. The company’s focus and expertise lies in the processing and management of spatial data with a strong emphasis on data quality, integrity and accuracy. Laser-Scan delivers solutions that help organisations gain the maximum value from their data. Laser-Scan’s specialist software tools simplify the management of spatial data and enable interoperable access. Laser-Scan is a member of the Open GIS Consortium and has contributed to a number of initiatives aimed at improving interoperability, most recently in collaboration with Autodesk, Intergraph and MapInfo.

Hi Consulting is a managment consultancy which specialises in hi-tech start-ups, spin-outs and technology transfer projects, and has particular expertise and experience in University technology exploitation and industrial dissemination and awareness projects.
