Claiming expenses

Policy

NIEeS will usually fund UK scientists to attend events, (but check each event's web page for confirmation). This fund will cover registration, reasonable travel, and subsistence expenses. NIEeS events normally include meals and accommodation, so we expect participants not to claim subsistence expenses. Where events use college accommodation, hotel bills will not be refunded. It is expected that anyone claiming travel expenses will ensure they travel by the cheapest reasonable route possible.

NIEeS does not fund non-UK scientists, unless these individuals are key note speakers, which would have been determined before the event.

For the purpose of this policy, UK scientists are deemed to be any scientist working in the UK, rather than UK nationals.

How to claim

Claimants should complete a standard claim form; a pdf copy can be obtained by clicking on the image to the right. It is expected that all claims will be supported by receipts.

Claims should be sent to Therese Williams, Administrator, NIEeS, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge, Downing St, CB2 3EQ. Therese should be the point of contact for all questions about expenses claims.
