Developing applications for real-time environmental data
22nd23rd February 2005
|
Notes for speakers and participants
Suggested Scope of Met Office and Environment Agency presentations
- What is the role of the Agency?
- What existing collaborations provide real time data streams to the research community?
- What would the agency like to get out of further collaboration on real time data with academic community?
- What data products are now or could in future be potentially available in real time?
- Current developments relevant to the workshop (such as the DTI project for the Met Office)
- Give a brief view of how you envisage that real time data Web Services might work (from the user/application end).
Suggested Scope of Researcher presentations
- The type of research done (in general or specific instance)
- What real time and/or Agency datasets are you using now
- What new real time / Agency data sets would help with developing the project (i.e. obs and or model data?)
- What are requirements on data delivery?
- Highlight future projects that would benefit from real-time / Agency data (and services built around them).
- Note that in the Breakout sessions you will have a chance to discuss your data wish list for both Met Office and Environment Agency datasets that may currently be difficult to get hold of. Participants should come prepared with ideas of what they would like to be able to do given the resources and sufficient access to the data. Please do send comments on the Breakout sessions to Keith Haines and Ag Stephens and we will compile these and try to take onboard any suggestions in the run-up to the meeting.
