ATHAM workshop

June 19-21 2006

General information

This is the second ATHAM workshop to be held after a successful event in 2005. A highlight will be the release of the new fully parallel code of ATHAM.

The whole event has three elements:

First, the group of ATHAM developers, which is now distributed worldwide, will meet on Monday 19th June to discuss further development of the model. The new 2006 fully parallel version of ATHAM will be installed and tested.

Second, we will host a workshop on ATHAM development and applications on Tuesday 20th June. This includes talks by the developing group and we would like to invite people to give shorter presentations - so delegates should be actively reporting on similar activities, possible problems that could be solved with ATHAM etc.
Talks by the developers will include:
Hans-F. Graf, Cambridge, Michael Herzog, Princeton, Christiane Textor, Paris, Gunnar Luderer, Mainz  and Joerg Trentmann, Mainz

Third, on Wednesday 21st and, if needed, Thursday 22nd June, we will hold a hands-on tutorial to ATHAM, where the developers will give practical introduction in front of the computers. Participants at the tutorials are encouraged to also contribute to the workshop on Tuesday

Examples of ATHAM

Potential temperature on 100 µg/m³ aerosol isosurface for a pyro-cloud (Cisholm Fire) as simulated by ATHAM Ozone concentration in a biomass burning plume simulated by ATHAM and observed Atham simulation of the fate of ash aggregates in a volcanic eruption

Further information can be found in the ATHAM manual.
